Tamara Bavousett, DNP, RN, C-PNP

Tamara Bavousett, DNP, RN, C-PNP, is the owner of Compass Pediatrics, In Odessa Texas. Tamara is a proud West Texan. She graduated from Permian High School ’97, Odessa College ’98 and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center ’01, ’04 and ‘2010. As an RN, Tamara worked at Children’s Medical Center in Dallas and Medical Center Hospital in Odessa. She worked as a Nurse Practitioner at a primary care office and the Ronald McDonald Care Mobile. After completion of her doctoral degree, Tamara opened Compass Pediatrics in September 2010 after seeing the need for pediatric primary care providers in her area. Patients within the practice travel for their visits from all over West Texas, the panhandle and even Eastern New Mexico. In addition to her current role within her business, Tamara serves as a pediatric consultant for Home Hospice of West Texas, clinical preceptor for nurse practitioner students and doctoral students. High school and undergraduate student have shadowed her in the past to witness a day in the life of an NP. Some of those students have gone on to become RNs and NPs as well! She has served as DNP expert advisor and DNP Capstone advisor. She is also clinical faculty at TTUHSC School of Nursing in the nurse practitioner programs.

She served as a board member of the West Texas Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center, TTUHSC SON Dean’s Advisory Council and was nominated for the Young Professionals of Odessa’s 2018 Class of Odessa under 40. She is an active member of NAPNAP. She has been serving on Odessa Symphony Guild Board since 2018. Currently, she is working with the March of Dimes annual fundraising even.

In her “spare” time, Tamara enjoys Crossfit, Cycle, reading, eating and shopping! She loves Jesus and lives by the principal to love God and love people.

Tamara has been married to David over 20 year and together they have 3 children: Abby (19), Emma (17) and Barrett (10).

Stephanie Henderson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C

Stephanie Henderson is a family nurse practitioner who specializes in pediatric primary care at Compass Pediatrics. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas and then earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree also at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. #redraidernurse She holds a national certification with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Stephanie also received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas.

Stephanie’s nursing background includes time in the intensive care unit, emergency department, nursing education, and nursing administration.

Stephanie is passionate about health and wellness. She believes good habits established in childhood will set the child up for success in their adult life. She is also passionate about children with rare-autoimmune and inflammatory disorders.

Stephanie loves Jesus and enjoys spending time with her family. She loves to travel, exploring the world and different cultures. She loves sunflowers, the color yellow, warm hugs, and above all, pizza. She is an avid baseball fan, but enjoys all sports and recreational outdoor activities.

Emily Copeland, MSN, RN, CPNP

Emily Copeland is a pediatric nurse practitioner who specializes in pediatric primary care at Compass Pediatrics. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. #redraidernurse

She is nationally certified as a pediatric nurse practitioner with the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board.

Emily spent most of her many years of nursing in neonatal intensive care and neonatal transport, as well as pediatric ENT, specifically cleft lip and palate care, before completing her master’s degree and joining Compass Pediatrics.

It does not take long to learn how much Emily loves pediatrics. She always knew she wanted to take care of babies when she grew up. It is very important to Emily that patients and their families feel comfortable, cared for, and educated with every single encounter. She is passionate about newborns, as well as infants and children with congenital and complex medical conditions. She knows how important a good pediatric provider medical home clinic is for these patients and their families.

Emily has traveled many times to Kenya and to China for pediatric medical/surgical mission trips. Being a part of medical missions is very special part of her life. Emily loves sleeping in, chai tea, the smell of a just bathed baby, and her 2 girls more than words!
